Next to the
access door to the sacristy there is an altarpiece with the same
characteristics as the altarpiece opposite. It is from the 18th century in a
classicist baroque style. Its structure consists of a single body with
classical columns - alternating Corinthian and Ionic capitals.
In the
central niche is the sculpture of La Piedad. Maria has her dead son on her lap.
In the attic of the altarpiece there are sculptures of angels, probably from
that era. This altarpiece may come from the disappeared convent of La Merced.
Prior to
this altarpiece, a burial is documented “next to the wall that overlooks the
sacristy where a laude is placed and the image of Our Lady of the Conception is
placed on top of the said grave, with a sign that says the foundation and
memories that he left ”.
